Hi! I am Ben, 17 years old and my aspiration, like I'm sure many of you, is to become an airline pilot.

I have had a passion for aviation for as long as I can remember. The reason I wanted to build BlackBox is because we have social media platforms for general life etc, but nothing dedicated to aviation that also acts as a way of tracking and displaying your career progress. So, I built BlackBox. I would love for the app to become a hub for the online aviation community — where students, pilots, flight schools and airlines post about their daily lives, and any questions they have so the community can answer.

However, not everyone has to post on BlackBox. You can simply create logs and opt out of creating a post with it, log your hours, airports visited, routes flown and aircraft flown — all visible from your profile and map page.

You may notice that there is a paid subscription in BlackBox (BlackBox Ascend). I wish I could create a platform like this and for it to be completely free for everyone to use, however, building and maintaining this platform costs a substantial amount of money, especially as a full time student. Even though a subscription does exist, I have built BlackBox so you can access a vast majority of the features without having to pay.
